Conan Returns

Conan returned after his nine month break when being fired from NBC.  His new show on TBS, titled Conan, is now on at a new time at 11pm.  O'Brien joked that he named the show Conan so that it would be a lot harder to replace him.  The first three episodes are in the books and his ratings beat out both Leno and Letterman.

Even though Conan will never admit it, beating out Leno must be a very good feeling.  But will his ratings and viewers stay that high after a week or a month?  Will people not tune into TBS which is on basic cable every night?
The show contains most of the regulars including Andy Richter as Conan's sidekick along with most of the band.  One exception is that Max Weinberg is not back with the band and the band is now called Jimmy Levino and the Basic Cable Band.  Tom Hanks and Seth Rogan were among the first guests to appear on the show.  They did a funny bit with Tom Hanks with whales appearing in the background of the set and making a huge splash and getting Hanks completely soaked.

Some of the characters from the former show haven reappeared but we have yet to see some of the skits like "In the Year 2000" come back.  In conclusion, Conan appears to be more quirkier like the old Late Night show rather than the Tonight Show. With a fan base with a median age of 35, the more "weird" funny will do a lot better it seems.  Hopefully he will get the viewership he deserves and the show does well for years to go.
